  1. The “revolving wheels” make me think of the horrific accidents of industrial life. Such a decorous advertisement from a world in which women and girls risked grievous injury from machinery.

    I somehow didn’t expect early sharpeners to use such an acute angle.

    It’d be great to think, since it was likely there weren’t any female artists employed at this ad agency, that “Joe from Accounting” had to explain to his wife why the fellas at work had painted his fingernails red. Like Seinfeld might say, ‘those are some man-hands‘. 🙂
