I thought for a time that pencils like these were a version of carpenter’s pencils, owing to their shape. But they’re not—they are designed to be carried comfortably in a vest pocket, and unlike carpenter’s pencils, can more or less fit into a regular sharpener.
Eberhard Faber still called this a clamp eraser, even though the shape of the clip is a bit different. This one has fused to the tube and I think pulling any harder (or pushing from the inside) will likely damage it—I’d still like to see it though.
They are handy pencils and easy to write with (carpentry notwithstanding). Now to find some refills.
Update:
After some more persuading and cleaning, the eraser and clip:
What a gem! Do these pencils have a regular round lead?

Yes, the leads are round. These are somewhere around a No. 1 or No. 2 in darkness.

They really are a piece of functional art I LOVE the older, well thought out, designs from the past.I wish more companies would bring back the older style designs I know many of us would gladly purchase them. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Dana. I couldn’t agree with you more about older-style designs; that is in large part my reason for posting about them.
